SCOPAC'S FUTURE RESEARCH PROGRAMME


Following a detailed review of research activities at a range of administrative levels (National, European and regional) and SCOPAC's own research programme, the project team has prepared a proposed prioritised work programme for the next three years, with additional projects listed for future consideration.

The proposed programme of future research includes the following activities:

•  ACCESS (Adapting to Climate Change along England's Southern Shorelines);
•  Review of regional wave climate and implications for shoreline management – extremes, swell, bimodal conditions;
•  Maintenance practice guide/review (Phase 1: timber groynes);
•  CIRIA beach management manual update;
•  Revision of Non-Technical Guide to Coastal Defence;
•  Evolution of coastal sediment sincs;
•  Validation of new met-office wave model for SCOPAC region;
•  Climate change local scenarios;
•  Saltmarsh evolution study;
•  Design guidance for mixed beaches.
