- Global Warming - practical implications for coastal engineering works of sea level rise and climatic change;
- Alternative materials to hardwoods for use in coastal engineering works.
- Coastal Management Plans - preparation, format, issues covered etc;
- Radio-activity on beaches. (i) Seaweed. (j) Sewage disposal at sea;
- Mobility of the seabed;
- Monitoring the performance of the rock breakwaters at Elmer, West Sussex;
- Tide gauge recording instrumentation and data storage;
- Beach steepening (including methods of profiling and sampling) wave climate and existing coast protection structures;

- Production and regular update of a SCOPAC bibliographic database;
- Inputs of sediment from coastal erosion - fluvial flows, cliff erosion and coastal platforms;
- Exploration of initiatives within Europe for joint funding of mutually beneficial projects;
- Contribution towards the Seabed Sediment Mobility study to the west of the Isle of Wight undertaken by CIRIA;
- Various contributions to maritime archaeological research projects in the Solent and Isle of Wight area;
- Contribution towards the Dorset Seasearch programme covering two projects : The Purbeck programme and the West Dorset project;
- Production of a Shoreline Management Summary document which provides an overview of the whole of SCOPAC's coastline incorporating the seven SMPs, identifying a comprehensive research programme at both a local and regional level and the role of SCOPAC in promoting sustainable coastal policies;
- Scoping Study: The Cumulative Effects of Marine Aggregates Dredging;
- Sponsorship of a number of conferences/forums. Response to the House of Commons Agriculture Committee Inquiry - Flood and Coastal Defence;
- Contribution to the Geologists' Association towards the cost of the Dorset Coast CD ROM project;
- Preparing for the impacts of climate change.
