Pinhay Bay, 2001. Successive rotational failures have occurred within the Upper Greensand and Chalk at the top of the 130m high cliff to produce an undercliff of landslide debris. Marine erosion at the toe has created steep rockfall dominated sea cliffs within the Blue Lias. Limestones within the latter have formed reefs across the foreshore as the cliffs retreated. The beach is formed of locally derived chert, flint and limestone gravels.
