The Chesil Beach shingle barrier 1987. Extending some 28km to West Bay in the distance, it affords protection to the tidal Fleet Lagoon and a low-lying hinterland (foreground). The beach maintains a continuous crest from West Bay at 6m O.D. rising to around 14m O.D. in the foreground of this photo. (photo copyright unknown).
