Piecemeal defences formed of concrete rubble to protect eroding lowlands at Binstead. These defences are typical of many on this frontage, becoming dilapidated and only providing partial shore protection (August 1992).

Relict landslide slopes beyond dilapidated defences at Binstead. Note the fallen and dying trees in the mid distance that are indicative of renewes landsliding. Note also the very narrow shore at high water that provides very little protection against erosion at the toes of these slopes (August 1992).
