8 (Return) King’s Quay Tidal Inlet, 20.09.00.
A sequence of habitats extends from seaward to landward as follows: mobile
sand and gravel spits at the entrance, saltmarsh, mudflats and reed swamp
merging south westwards into freshwater habitats. Note the topographic
control of the margins which confines the estuarine habitats within the
valley potentially making them sensitive to sea-level rise. The spits
protecting the entrance are derived from eastward and westward drift of
sands and gravels converging upon the inlet.
