Otterton Ledge, 2001. The headland and shore platform formed of resistant Otter Sandstone operates as a barrier to littoral drift and confines the sediments of Budleigh Salterton Beach. It is likely that sandy sediments can bypass the headland and drift eastward (left to right) along the subtidal shoreface.
