Photo 14 (Return) Sir Richard's Cove and view towards Woody Point, southern Undercliff, 2001. A mixed gravel pocket beach is confined by minor headlands and boulder aprons. The boulders are released from the eroding cliff toes and represent former shoreline positions. They perform important roles in dissipating wave action and partially protecting the cliff toes. Note the distinctive orange brown pea gravels typical of the coves along this frontage that contrast with the larger greyish flints and sandstones released by the local cliffs. | |
