Gravel Spit, west Hayling, 2002. The spit has grown northward (away from camera) fed by gravels drifting along the shoreline from several sections of low eroding cliffs to the south (Photos 7 and 8). Note that an area of upper saltmarsh has developed within the shelter provided behind the spit to the right
