Vegetated shingle, west shore of Hayling Island, 2002. Crambe maritima and Beta vulgaris community on a shingle spit, eastern Langstone Harbour. Gravel beaches and spits are slowly growing as sediments are released from accelerating shoreline erosion following dieback of Spartina and increasing wave exposure.
