Upper foreshore, Pilsey Sands 2003. Winds blowing over the wide sandy foreshore entrain sand at low tide and transport it towards the backshore. Deposition can be initiated by flotsam, or pioneer vegetation (Sea Lyme Grass) along the strandline leading to embryo dune accumulations.
