Charmouth Beach beneath Stonebarrow, 1993. Winter storms have stripped the beach enabling wave action to erode cliff toe debris stores and cut into the insitu Liassic marls of the sea-cliffs. Steepening of the sea-cliffs by toe erosion maintains the instability of the slopes above and generates recession of the cliff top. This beach is always relatively thin, because drift transport sediments eastward towards Golden Cap.
