Boulder apron at Golden Cap 1985. Boulders are delivered within mudslides operating over the cliffs and remain after marine erosion removes the finer materials. The former extent of the mudslide lobe is shown by the deposition pattern of the boulders. These features extend several kilometres offshore where they have been stranded by long-term coastal retreat. A gravel beach has formed landward of the aprons along the cliff toe and offers a potential drift pathway around this part of the headland.
