Town Beach and Harbour, Lyme Regis. Town Beach and Marine Parade to the east of the harbour are depleted due to interception of drift by The Cobb. A sandy tombolo has formed in the shelter afforded by the North Wall and is fed by a local drift reversal operating from east to west in front of the shelters along the esplanade. Note the sand and gravel that has accumulated behind Beacon Rocks (foreground) and the harbour arm, suggesting that limited drift bypassing of the structure is possible.
